The Western Carolina Civic Orchestra will hold the fifth annual Community Christmas Concert, sponsored by the Jackson County Library and the Jackson County Arts Council, at the Jackson County Public Library on Thursday, December 17.

The musical celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with caroling on the library steps, led by Gayle and Phil Woody.  The Civic Orchestra strings, conducted by Dr. Damon Sink, will begin the concert at 7:00 p.m. with a Christmas Concerto Pastorale by Giuseppe Sammartini, Carol of the Bells and Pachelbel Canon.  The orchestra will be joined by area students who study violin and flute with Cathy Arps, Elizabeth Butler and Lori Richards.  All children are invited to bring a rattle, toy trumpet or small toy drum, to play with the orchestra in the Toy Symphony.  We ask everyone to sing with us as we Jingle Bells and Wish You a Merry Christmas.

This program is sponsored by the Jackson County Arts Council from a Grassroots Grant, supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.  It is free and the public is welcomed.
