The Friends of the Jackson County Public Library (FOJCPL) was established
in 1997 to help support the growth and development of the library and
to stimulate us of the library's resources and services. We operate primarily
on the funds raised from the sale of books donated by the public at our used book store on Main Street in Sylva. We are completely staffed by volunteers who work in sales; help sort,
price and organize books; serve on the Board; create window displays;
and serve on our various committees. Whatever your talent, we would welcome
you as a volunteer.
Over the past several years, FOJCPL contributions of
both dues and volunteer time have raised funds to purchase/fund —
- Books, books on tape, videos, CD's DVD's, etc.
- New computer equipment
- Media shelving
- Seating in the periodical area
- Speakers/presenters for programs
- Reference materials
