Jackson County Public Library Children's Area gives kids their own space in the library, filled with books,  DVDs, a train table, puppet theater, puzzles, and many other things. There is one study room that can be reserved or used when available, as well as computers just for kids and AWES with pre-programmed games on them. We have a special Storytime Room where we hold our Storytimes and many of our programs. Youth Services staff are always on hand to lend assistance.

Birding At Pinnacle Park

Birding At Pinnacle Park

Jackson County Public Library

A delightful abundance of birds can be found in the towering tulip poplars, old growth oaks, hardy spruces, and sunny rock outcrops of Pinnacle Park. During springtime, vibrantly colored migratory warblers come back into town to nest for the season, or rest up for their journey farther north. In honor of World Migratory Bird Day (May 11th), join Skye Cahoon in the Community Room on Tuesday, May 7th at 6 p.m. to learn about some of the birds you may encounter on your way to the Pinnacle, from resident Barred Owls that watch silently from their roosts to seasonal Scarlet Tanagers that sing from the treetops. This talk will run for about 50 minutes, with a Q&A session following the talk.
As Mainspring’s Conservation Outreach Associate, Skye (she/her) inspires communities to engage and connect with nature through programming, education, and communications. She holds a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maine, and has studied blackbirds in New Hampshire, quail in Florida, and sagebrush songbirds in Montana.
The Jackson County Public Library is a member of the Fontana Regional Library. For more information please call the library at 828-586-2016.
